Employee letters such as these have little effect as everyone knows that Clariant has to do something to survive. Clariant has been too late to make a significant strategic move in a chemicals industry that continues to need to consolidate, despite a number of recent events. It has always appeared that paper chemicals is not a priority for Clariant and the recent move by BASF to acquire Ciba has left Clariant with few options to survive.
Just what will the new CEO do? Can Clariant rise from the ashes without being sold, split up or merged? Not likely! Time for some clear and creative thinking - break the mould Clariant.
