The new owners of the pulp & paper companies ..... interesting article

Came across this interesting article (viewpoint) on the new breed of investors in the North American pulp and paper industry. It discusses how the industry has changed - consolidated, globalised, merged, restructured, reduced capital spending, and shut down unprofitable mills and machines.

However, "This change has not restored desired profitability levels, and another change is now occurring: the trend toward "new owners" who come from outside traditional industry ranks." The new owners are private equity firms or family-owned firms that invest for the purpose of achieving higher returns than institutional investors.
